Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

The short version. Sprout has no account and no server of its own. Your child's information is stored on your device and in your own iCloud. We don't collect it, see it, sell it, or share it, and there are no ads or third-party trackers. Predictions are calculated on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sprout ("the app") handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have. It applies to the Sprout iOS app operated by [Operator legal name] ("we", "us").

1. Our approach: no account, no server

Sprout does not have user accounts and does not run its own servers that store your data. You do not create a username or password. Instead, the app uses the Apple iCloud account already signed in on your device to store and sync your information. Because of this, your child's data never reaches a Sprout server — we don't operate one.

2. What information the app stores

The app stores only what you enter so it can do its job. This typically includes:

  • Child profile — the name (or nickname) and birthday you add for each child.
  • Activity log — the moments you record (success or accident; pee or poop) and their times.
  • Readiness check & training status — your answers to the short readiness quiz and whether a child is marked as potty trained.
  • App settings — preferences such as your chosen accent and, stored locally on each device, your notification and quiet-hours settings.

This information is held in the app on your device and in your private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit) so it can back up and sync across your devices. The countdown prediction and its confidence are computed from your activity log on your device; nothing is sent anywhere to be processed.

3. What we do not collect

We want to be specific about this:

  • We do not track you across apps or websites.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers, and Sprout contains no ads.
  • We do not include third-party analytics, marketing, or social-media SDKs.
  • We do not receive, store, or have access to your child's data on any server we control.

This is reflected in the app's Apple privacy manifest, which declares no tracking and no collected data types.

4. iCloud and care-team sharing

You can privately share a child's routine with another caregiver (for example a partner, a grandparent, or daycare) through Apple's iCloud sharing. When you do:

  • Sharing is invitation only — there are no public links. People join only when you invite them.
  • You choose each person's role: Can edit (add and change entries) or View only.
  • People you invite can see, and depending on their role contribute to, that child's information for as long as they remain on the share.
  • You can change a person's role or remove them at any time from within the app.

This sharing happens over Apple's iCloud infrastructure, not ours. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app schedules gentle reminders locally on your device around the next likely trip and respects your quiet hours. Notification preferences are stored per device and are not used to identify you.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Sprout Plus is sold as an in-app subscription processed by Apple through your App Store account. Apple handles the transaction and your payment details; we never receive or store your payment information. Apple provides us with non-identifying information needed to deliver the subscription (for example, whether a purchase is active). Apple's processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Children's privacy

Sprout is a tool for parents and caregivers. Information about a child is entered by the responsible adult using the app, and we collect no personal information directly from children. We practise data minimisation — the app asks only for what it needs to track progress and make a prediction. If you believe a child's information has been added to Sprout without the right authority, you can delete it at any time as described below, or contact us.

8. Retention and deletion

You are in control of your data. You can edit or delete individual entries, archive or permanently delete a child, and remove caregivers from a share — all from within the app. Deleting data in the app removes it from your iCloud as it syncs. You can also remove all app data by deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data from your Apple device settings. Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot retrieve it once you delete it.

9. Security

Your information is protected by the security of your Apple device and your iCloud account, including the protections Apple applies to iCloud and CloudKit. We recommend keeping your device passcode and Apple Account secure, since access to your iCloud is access to your data.

10. Third parties

The only third party involved in the normal operation of Sprout is Apple, which provides iCloud storage and sharing, notifications, and App Store payment processing. We do not sell or share your information with anyone, and there are no advertising or analytics partners.

11. International users

Your data is stored in your own iCloud and is subject to where Apple stores iCloud data for your account. Because we do not operate servers or receive your data, we do not transfer it ourselves.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or on this page. Continuing to use Sprout after a change means you accept the updated policy.
